This role will be fully immersed in designing, developing, and testing complex software-based control systems. This is a hands-on role where hard work will be realized in real-world operations. As part of the product development group, this role will ensure rigorous quality assurance, execute meticulous system testing, and provide robust field support. Your contribution will be key to pioneering inventive solutions that tackle the unique challenges of the rail industry.

The ideal candidate would be experienced in these areas. Not just exposure but true experience.

• Software-based testing
• Experience with qualitative testing
• Scripting (Python)
• Comfortable with Linux command line
• Root cause analysis & troubleshooting

Complex Testing?

Our technology is a "System of Systems". It is a series of small systems that integrate to form a larger holistic system. We need someone who has experience testing at this level of complexity. Additionally, this is a safety-critical system, thus the level of rigor is much higher than in generic software. Is this a good fit?

Manual and Automative Testing?

35/65 to someone who has developed automated tests. The key attribute is developing test cases. Converting manual tests to automated ones is always possible. Is this a good fit?

Python?

Python with Javascript (NodeJS) as a bonus. Is this a good fit?

Travel?

Responsibilities

• Draft detailed test cases for lab and field testing of freight rail components and systems.

• Conduct field tests in various locations and environments to simulate real-world conditions.

• Analyze test data, identify discrepancies, and provide actionable insights for product improvement.

• Collaborate with product development teams to integrate test findings into design and development processes.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all testing activities.

• Prepare and present test reports to stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technological advancements and industry trends to enhance testing methodologies.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during testing phases.

**Qualifications**

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or related field.

• Proven experience as a Field Test Engineer, ideally within the freight rail industry.

• Strong understanding of engineering principles and testing methodologies.

• Experience drafting test cases and conducting both lab and field testing.

• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.

• Ability to interpret technical documents and schematics.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Willingness to travel to field test sites as required.

• Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations.
